Mongolia has one of the last remaining horse-based nomadic cultures in the world that has little changed over the centuries. Even immediately outside of the capital city, the horse is still the main mode of transportation. Nomads are extremely proud of their horse-riding skills and horseracing tournaments are the most exciting shows to attend.
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel. City tour including a visit to the Gandan Monastery to view the impressive 20 ton statue of Migjid Janraiseg (Avalokiteshvara), adorned by gold and jewels, followed by a visit to the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, a home of the last Mongolian Khaan. Traditional performance in the evening.
Day 2: Mankhan Els / Central Province
Drive to the Mankhan Els. (130 km.). Initial preparations and test riding at the “Ar Burd” ger camp. Overnight in a ger.
Day 3: Mount Baga Zorgol
The first day of the adventures. Ride toward the Mount Baga Zorgol. Overnight in tents. (20 km.)
Day 4: Mount Zorgol
Reaching the foot of the 1,680 m. high granite rock Mount Zorgol. (25-23 km.).
Day 5: Mount Zorgol
Spend the day trekking in surrounding rocks and mountains.
Day 6: Baga Els
Horse trekking through the sand dunes of Baga Els. (20 km.).
Day 7: Oasis of Khutul
Explore a small Oasis of Khutul. (20 km.).
Day 8: Sarantolgoi
Ride to Sarantolgoi. (20 km.).
Day 9: Kholboo
Ride to Kholboo. (20.).
Day 10: Khustain Nuruu
Visit the Khustain Nuruu National Park to observe reintroduced takhi wild horses (Przevalski’s horse). Overnight in a ger camp.
Day 11: Ulaanbaatar
Return to the capital city. Visit the Natural History Museum to observe the unique collection of flora and fauna including dinosaur fossils and eggs.
Day 12: Terelj
Explore Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. Enjoy trekking and photo sessions. Overnight in a ger camp.
Day 13: Ulaanbaatar
Continue city exploration. Farewell diner.
Day 14: Departure
