“BIKING CENTRAL MONGOLIA”

 Mountain biking is a way to experience this land of true wilderness and pristine nature of which there isn’t much left on planet Earth. It is also a way to learn about nomadic people of Mongolia and their life style which seemingly hasn’t changed for  hundreds of years. The nature of biking and its slow pace allow you get a feel of it. Our mountain biking tours are organized in the country’s  major mountain ranges the Khangai in Central Mongolia , Amarbaysagalant Monastery ,  Erdene Zuu monastery , Khorgo Volcano crater . We have developed and optimized over a dozen of great cycling routes that can be adapted to riders of different physical ability and experience. They can be extended, shortened or combined. You will be accompanied by expert guides, bike mechanics, drivers and cooks equipped with outdoor equipment that is made for the type of adventure and for the wilderness conditions of Mongolia which will eventually ensure your best enjoyment.

TRIP ITINERARY:

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel. City tour including a visit to  Gandan Monastery, the largest Buddhist Center of Mongolia, followed by a visit to the National History Museum  , traditional performance in the evening. (L.D)

Day 2: Amarbayasgalant   / Selenge Province

Drive to Amarbaysagalant Monastery.  This  Monastery  which built in 1727-1736 with  more than 50 temples was biggest religious center in that time . See Buddha  statue  on the hill  .  Overnight in a ger camp. ( this day journey is 120 km). (B.L.D)

Day 3: Bulgan Province

Drive to Bulgan  town a administrative center of Bulgan province.  Visit   in former military point in the south of Bulgan, which was founded in 1921, was transformed into a museum  and Dashchoinkhorlon Khiid is a monastery .Overnight stay  tent. (this day journey is 160 km).   (B.L.D)

Day 4-7: Biking 

Beginning of the biking adventures. The 4×4 vehicle with the luggage will be following the group. Meals are prepared by a professional chef. The daily biking distance is 50-80 km. depending on weather and road conditions. The route covers Agui Mountain, Kholboogiin Davaa mountain pass, Tsagaan Chuluut and River Khanui. Overnight stay in tents. (B.L.D)

Day 8: River Chuluut

Drive to the Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur.    This is fresh water lake with 16 km long ,6 km wide     supports   taimen, pike, amur pike grayling  and  rare birds. It’s the jewel of Arkhangai and one of the most beautiful lakes of the country. The eruption of Khorgo Volcano cause of the presence of the lake. Stay in  ger  camp.    ( this day journey is 130 km).(B.L.D)

Day 9: Crater Khorgo/ Ar Khangai province

Explore Khorgo Volcano craters. We can also see beautiful scenery of mountains, cliffs, rapid stream river lake extinct volcanoes , green forest and pasture.    Opportunities for trekking and photo sessions.   After that drive toward River Khanui.  (this day journey is 110km). Day 10: Tsetserleg Town/ Ar Khangai province

Drive through Tsetserleg Town. Explore the local Temple of Zaya Bandid and a Museum of Ethnography. Camp near the River Urd Tamir. (this day journey is 110 km) (B.L.D)

Day 11-16: Biking  / Tsenkhermandal village,

The second phase of the biking adventures. The route covers Tsenkhermandal village, Erdenetsogt,  River Tui, Ulziit,  Khudag Urt /  Bayankhongor province and Garid Rocks / Uvurkhangai  province   . Stay  overnight in  tent  (B.L.D)

Day 17: Waterfall Ulaantsutgalan

Drive through Arvaikheer Town, the center of the Uvurkhangai province. Visit a local Museum of Ethnography. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcano eruptions and  earthquake. Camp near Waterfall Ulaantsutgalan. (this day journey is 260 km).  (B.L.D)

 Day 18: Kharakhorum/ Uvur Khangai province

Drive to Kharakorum. Explore magnificent Erdene Zuu monastery temples with grand examples of Buddhist iconography dating back to the 16th century. Visit archeological excavation sites of Kharakhorum ruins. Overnight in a ger camp. ( this day journey is 130 km. (B.L.D)

Day 19: Khustain Nuruu / Tuv province

Drive to the Khustain Nuruu National Park to observe reintroduced takhi wild horses (Przevalski’s horse). Overnight in a ger camp. (this day journey is  270 km). (B.L.D)

Day 20: Ulaanbaatar

Return to the capital city and transfer to hotel. Zaisan war memorial, followed by a visit to the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, a home of the last Khaan of Mongolia , Gobi factory store, Department store  .  (this day journey is 110 km). (B.L.D)

Day 21: Departure.

After breakfast depart to airport.
