AROUND ALTAI MOUNTAINS BY 4X4

Amazing  snow-capped peaks, vast green pastures, salt water lakes and creamy deserts unfolding in front of your eyes   waiting you  during  our driving  by rugged 4X4 vehicle in  majestic Mountains Altai. This trip will transport you to the relatively unexplored parts of Western Mongolia, across several provinces, and acquaint you with the lives of Kazakh people who,  hunt with masterfully trained Golden Eagles. The trip is sure to offer thrilling adventures and unforgettable experience to a dedicated traveler. Our  drivers and cooks equipped with outdoor equipment that is made for the type of adventure  .

TRIP ITINERARY:

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the  hotel. City tour including a visit to Gandan Monastery, the largest Buddhist Center of Mongolia, followed by a visit to the National History Museum . Traditional performance in the evening. (L,D)

Day 2: Lake Tolbo / Bayan-Ulgii Province

Morning  take  flight to province Bayan-Ulgii (3:00 hours). The group is divided into subgroups of 5-6 people  and each subgroup is provided a 4×4 vehicle manned by a friendly experienced driver. The expedition heads for the first camping site on the shore of the 185 sq. m. large and 10 m. deep saltwater Lake Tolbo. ( this day journey is 80 km). Overnight in tents. (B.L.D)

Day 3: Khovd Province

Drive to Khovd Town.  Picnic on the way  view of the Mount Tsambagarav, one of the highest peaks of the Mountain Altai Range (4,165 m.). Arrive in Khovd Town. Visit a local Museum of Ethnography. (this day journey is 160 km.). Overnight in a ger camp.  (B.L.D)

Day 4: Mount Sutai/ Gobi Altai  province

Drive in the direction of the Mount Sutai passing by the caves of Gurvan Tsenkher. The caves contain the most remarkable examples of the Stone Age wall paintings. Maroon images of elephants, camels, ibex, wild sheep, gazelles, ostriches and trees cover the creamy walls of the two caves that extend 130 m. and 40 m. long . Camp near the 4,090 m. high Mount Sutai. Stay in tent.    (this day journey is 230 km).     (B,L,D)

Day 5: Khaliun / Gobi-Altai Province

Drive through the Sharga Gobi, which stretches 120 km. long and 90 km. wide. Stopover at small saltwater lakes and saxaul forests. You can view many kind of birds  in Sharga Zagaan lake . Overnight at tent.  (this day journey is 240 km.). (B.L.D)

Day 6: Eej Khairkhan / Gobi-Altai Province

Camp on the territory of the Mount Eej Khairkhan National Reserve with a beautiful view of the 2,275 m. high mountain.  The most famous natural feature of this mountain is a series of nine cascading  polls of  water know as the Pots , unique rock formations and near by caves. Day 7: Bigher / Gobi-Altai Province

Drive to Bigher Gobi, densely inhabited by wild Gobi animals such as Argali wild sheep, ibex, saiga antelopes and wild ass. On the we visit in Zogt sum’s  Fruit planting farm  you have opportunity to taste . Overnight at tent.   (this day journey is 200 km.). (B.L.D)

Day 8: Lake Buun Tsagaan / Bayankhongor Province

Drive to Lake Buun Tsagaan, one of the largest 5 Gobi’s Lakes. The lake is a paradise on earth for water birds. Overnight stay in tent in lake shore. (this day journey is 180 km.).  (B.L.D)

Day 9: Shargaljuut Hot Springs/ Bayankhongor Province

Camp near the Shargaljuut hot springs (90C).  There are over 100 hot springs  and geysers . Quick stopover  at Bayankhongor Town , visit  in local museum . Overnight stay in tent (this day journey is 180 km).  (B.L.D)

Day 10: Province Uvurkhangai  

Explore the province with the highest number of cattle in the country.  We  will visit nomadic  herdsman family, introduce traditional life style.  (this day journey is 200 km.).

Day 11: Ruins of Kharakhorum  / Uvur Khangai province

Explore the ruins of Kharakhorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit the magnificent Erdene Zuu Buddhist Monastery built in 1586 and  archeological excavation sites of Kharakhorum ruins. Visit  in Kharakhorum museum .  On the we visit in Shanhi  Monastery . Overnight stay in  ger camp. (this day journey is 140 km.) (B.L.D)

Day 12: Khustain Nuruu / Tuv province

Explore the National Park of “Khustain Nuruu” to observe reintroduced takhi (Przevalski’s horse) wild horses. The Park lies in the foothills of southern Khentii  Mountain range and there are 46 types of mammals , 223 types of birds , archaeological and cultural sites as slab burials , deer stones . On the way  we stop in Elsen Tsasarhai  which is sand  dunes . Overnight  stay in ger camp. (this day journey is 270 km).   ( B.L.D )

Day 13: Ulaanbaatar

Final day of the adventurous journey. Visit  to  Zaisan Hill – War Memorial Statue ,you can view hole city, then  Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, a home of the last Khaan of Mongolia. Visit to Gobi factory store  then Department store. Overnight stay  in a hotel. (this day journey is 110 km).  ( B.L.D )

Day 14: Departure

After  breakfast depart to airport.
